Getting started

My artwork helps keep me sober, helps keep me focused. I put all my insecurities and my inner struggles inside of all my paintings. It took me awhile to understand this, to use paint as a ways of getting centered. I used to try to paint things that I thought would be meaningful to other people. I used to try to paint people and objects so others could look upon my work and talk to me about my skill level. It took me a while to paint for me and not worry what others would think.

I still sometimes get caught up in what my girlfriend thinks of my stuff and others close to me. It is work to get that out of my head. To paint purely from my emotional well. I know everyone has their own reason to paint I would love to hear what makes you do the art that you do.
