Yes, the poem is my certificate of authenticity. I sign the back of the painting with the name of the painting and then sign the poem. I affix the poem to the back of every painting with a magnet. I use a plastic sleeve on the poem to protect it. You can either keep the poem on the back of the painting or display it alongside or alone at the office.
Yes, the poem is written as I look at the painting or I write the poem and then paint inspired by the poem. The painting and the poem are companions. I put a lot of emotions into each piece and wanted to better describe it for the viewer.
I use acrylic paint as my base but, I love texture so I mix in other elements like salt and apply it to the canvas with a palette knife. For the feathers I use acrylic paint then lay the feathers on it then apply more paint, I build it up layer by layer which takes a while. Every piece has layer upon layer of material and paint to make them one.
I struggle with alcoholism and anxiety, painting is my way of keeping myself safe and balanced. My hope is others that are trying to stay sober or calm can look at my work and feel safe and at peace. My hope is others can look at my work and know they are not alone.
If you like a certain style of my paintings but, not sure about the color. I can create any one of my paintings in a different color for you just tell me the color you want or better yet take a picture of that color so I can use the rgb value. I am color blind so sometimes I cant really tell what color it maybe or the subtlety of it.
