16x12 acrylic on canvas. Mixed medium of stucco and glow in the dark paint blended into the acrylic paint and palette knife applied onto canvas. Given to someone in need of sobriety, this piece captured his eye so it was sold to him for what he had in his pockets. I hope this is bringing him focus and clarity.
Sometimes the darkness pushes a little harder than normal, sometimes the thirst for alcohol gets so loud it is hard to ignore. The emotions start to take over and the anxiety kicks in. The feeling of darkness starting to overtake me becomes too much, I look to the daybreak. Like the sunrise after a long night brightening everything up, the daybreak is that sigh of relaxation for me when the thirst subsides and is a quiet whisper.
This is the portal before me through it is clarity and sobriety, if it closes I could be trapped in the chaos and the darkness of alcoholism. It is up to me where I wish to be.
